Chili Cookoff Logos

It’s a new year, which means planning for chili cookoffs around the country is starting to “heat up.” (Pun Intended!) Part of that planning is ordering printed shirts with your logo for your cookoff team. Let that be the fun part, and the cooking be the hard part. Have Queensboro logo artists create a one-of- a- kind chili cookoff logo for you. The above artwork is Queensboro’s printing artwork for our chili cookoff last October. Fred was nice enough to give everyone a shirt with logo artist Eli’s neat design, and we love them!

Printed or Embroidered Shirts?

It is really up to you whether you would prefer an embroidered logo on a polo shirt or a printed logo shirt. Printed logos can be much larger, but we do, at this time, print only on light colored t-shirts. We can embroider on dark and light colored t-shirts and polo shirts.

If you want a full design, like the design above, printing is better. Our direct to garment digital printing system does not fade. (I have had several printed Queensboro shirts for over a year now, and they all still look great. I wear them all at least once a week. I’m not kidding. Ask my co-workers.) You can have a more detailed design if you choose printing artwork.

Embroidered polos look sharp on competition day, and you can order darker colors that won’t show chili stains! Embroidery is our specialty-how we got started, so our embroidery is also top-notch, and is all done right here in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Stand out from the Competition

Obviously, you’re going to be judged first and foremost by your chili, but you can make your opponents sweat from something other than the secret spices in your concoction. If you turn out on the big day, smartly dressed in matching competition shirts with your logo, you will get a second glance-maybe even from the judges!

Logo Design Key

Here’s some info to help you decide between printing and embroidery. Follow the key to see which option will be best for you. If I have confused you, just email us and we’ll be glad to help.

1. Do you already have a logo? If yes, go to number two. If no, go to number three.

2. Is your logo complex? If yes, go to number four. If no, go to number five.

3. Great! We can help you design or simplify a logo. Do you want polo shirts or dark colored t-shirts? If yes, go to number six. Do you want a full-front or full-back design? If yes, go to number seven.

4. Are you ok with simplifying the logo? If yes, go to number three. If no, go to number seven.

5. Super! You can choose between printing or embroidery. Send us your logo and we’ll let you know if it is ready to go for production.

6. If you want polo shirts or dark-colored t-shirts, you need to select embroidery. We can work with your design or help you create a new one!

7. If you have a logo that is too complex to be embroidered (if you let us evaluate it, we’ll tell you), and you would rather not simplify it, you will want to select our printing option.

As you can see from the Logo “Key” we can help you design and embroider or print a logo or other artwork to meet your needs. Our logo design/printing artwork services cost between $25-$35, which is pretty inexpensive when you compare prices on other artwork creation sites. If you want to get started now on your chili cookoff logo shirts, upload your logo to our website and start picking out shirts! We’ll help you through the process.

Shirts for your Family Naycation

Usually, around this time of year, people are planning a spring vacation. Last year it was all about the “Staycation,” or the need to stay close to home in order to preserve your budget. This year, everyone seems to be planning a “Naycation,” as in not planning a vacation at all.

Does a Naycation have to be all kinds of boring? No! If the vacation is about going somewhere new and the Staycation is about doing things in your hometown, the Naycation is about everything cool you can do at home. Before you shrug off the notion that there is nothing fun to do at home, think about all of the times you have been at work and wished you were at home. How about the times you have been on vacation, supposed to be having fun, and you also wished you were home? What would you do at home if you had a week? Fun things only. No work, bills or cleaning. Here are some ideas:

Take a Nap

I love nothing more than to take a nap on the couch in my living room while
the afternoon sun shines in and the dog lounges on her back, belly to the sun, snoring. I could sleep for hours—if nobody else is home.

Read a Book

I always read all of those surveys that say some huge percentage of Americans only read one book a year. That is a darn shame. Books are one of the best ways to instantly transport yourself into another world and learn something so that you are (or at least appear to be) smarter when you go back to work.

Make Art Projects

This one is especially good for kids. I love seeing the adorable pictures of my friends’ toddlers covered head to toe in paint. It also makes me so relieved to not have to one of my own yet to clean up after, that there are certain things I WON’T be doing during my Naycation. If you can scan the art project to a high resolution (300 DPI at size) image and submit it to us, we can print the kids’ creation on a shirt for them to sport after their Naycation.

Cook Weird Food

“Baked Alaska” always sounds fun to me. It is something I would not generally attempt because it requires more than five seconds to yank the top off of something and throw it in the microwave to create this meringue-topped ice cream dessert that bakes in the oven. Ice cream in the oven? Cool! I mean, hot! I mean, Yummy!

Play Bananagram

This is my new favorite game. It is a bunch of tiles with letters on it that you carry around in a zip-up banana. Each person draws 21 tiles and then tries to make their own words, scrabble-interconnecting style. There are not too many instructions, but you do have to use correct terminology. Yell “Split” when you all turn over your tiles at the beginning of the game. “Peel” is when you have run out of tiles and you need another one from the bag. “Dump” is when you get rid of a tile you can’t use and draw three more. The winner yells “Bananas!” Who does not love a game when the winning call is “Bananas!”

Every Vacation Needs a Shirt, Even a Naycation

How can you prove to your friends and family that you had an awesome Naycation? With a shirt, of course. There are several options for your shirt. You can design the shirt while on your Naycation. You can take pictures of your activities and have them printed on the shirt, or you can commission Queensboro to design a special shirt to be worn during the Naycation. The picture with this post is one of our Logo Specialist’s Naycation shirts. Want one? Drop us a line. We’ll make it happen.
